Take Back Program

Forever Stewards

Guild Glass will take our products back at the end of their service life, allowing us to be the forever stewards of the products we make. Generally, we will return these products to our manufacturing process by melting them down to create new product.

This is possible because glass is 100% recyclable – no mass is lost in reheating or melting glass and shaping it into new forms. In some cases, we will be able to repurpose returned products via a less energy intensive process than full melting.

Designed for Disassembly

To ensure that our products are simple to disassemble and recycle, Guild Glass products will be fabricated with reversible attachment mechanisms – anchors, rods and wires, and pliable mortars that can be easily removed during deconstruction. Some Guild Glass products will be installed in ways and locations that require no attachment mechanism at all.

Cradle-to-Cradle

Our Take Back Program offers a cradle-to-cradle materials lifecycle service to sustainability minded clients. To create this waste-free loop, we ask that our customers do their part to ensure that our products make it back to our facility at the end of their first service life. If you are an artist installing a temporary exhibit or an interior designer setting up for a market event, you do not have to worry about our products becoming “waste” at the end of your exhibit or event.

Additional LEED Credits

If you are a designer refreshing a space at end-of-lease or an architect renovating a building for a new use, our products can be re-fabricated to meet your new aesthetic vision, while earning your project significant LEED credits. Materials reuse qualifies for 200% of the materials cost as outlined in the LEED Materials & Resources category Sourcing of Raw Materials.
